Presenting Problem: The CEO's cry for help was, "Please, stop the chaos!" While he could define what that meant, he had no idea what was causing it.
Real Issue: Department managers were spending most of their time doing the job. They spent little time focusing on their responsibilities to support, train and guide their staff. Each team created thier own standards, and procedures. Therefore there was no consistency in how the product was created.
Solutions: Best practices were determined and guidelines and procedures were created. Managers were taught about their responsibilities to their staff and then developed into leaders.
Outcome: Employee moral, satisfaction and retention were dramatically increased. With billings improved, there was time to develop new products. According to the client, not only was the chaos stopped, his company was transformed into a workplace that most people only dreamed about.
Presenting Problem: When The Musolf Group met the owners of this business they said, "It has been a three years and we still can't decide on a name for our new business line."
Real Issue: The owners were feeling stagnant. Business was OK, not grand but OK. However they were bored and stressed. They thought their success and satisfaction was dependent on expanding. But what they really wanted was to get rid of the stress of doing business in this economy and to have fun again.
Solution: Expand the business only in the areas that they enjoy. Incorporate more work-life balance into their work-week to deal with the burnout that had accumulated over the years. Consider selling key real estate holdings to increase financial security.
Outcome: Within two months the owners and their business was transforming. The owners were more satisfied with their work, they are focusing on areas that increase their bottom line and are feeling a better sense of accomplishment. As an added bonus, the principals are finding time to golf once a week. Also, the real estate holding that "will never sell in this bad economy" received legitimate interest within a few weeks.
"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for coming to the Lodge and speaking with our group. You are a delightful and eloquent speaker. Your seminar was very enlightening. It made the chapters we read come alive. You presented in such a way that just put the whole idea right out there to understand."
